LA CLINIC'S COSMETIC LASER PROGRAM

As a member of the American Society for Laser in Medicine and Surgery (www.aslms.org) and the American College of Phlebology (www.phlebology.org), our practice has been successfully using laser technology to treat cosmetic problems for close to ten years.  

Our Cosmetic Laser Program includes:

PERMANENT HAIR REDUCTION
Excessive hair growth or distribution is a subject of great concern for many individuals, mostly women, sometimes men. Methods used to fight this problem can be repetitive, time consuming, painful, and costly.

As laser technology is applied, the hair density of each targeted territory gradually decreases, and any of these methods become of exceptional use, if any at all. In each area of concern, the laser beam will impair forever the growth from the active hair follicles. As not all follicles are in active phase at the same time, treatment typically has to be applied a minimum of 5 times in the same territory, each session separated by intervals of 4 to 6 weeks so each follicle can eventually be treated.

Patients typically start with areas of most concern, such as the upper lip, the chin, and the bikini line. As patients see results, they progress to other areas such as the underarms, the legs, and the back. Ingrown hair spots, a concern for the skin damage they induce, can also successfully treated.

This service is not covered by medical insurance, and payment is expected at the time of service. As sessions are spread over time, so is the expense for this service.  Over time, most patients are pleased that they will not have to encounter the cost of other repeated depilatory services.

PHOTOREJUVENATION - NON-ABLATIVE THERAPY
Using different energy distribution parameters, laser can participate in skin restructuration by stimulation of collagen production, improving skin quality, and reducing the damage of time, and sun exposure. Progressive exposure to the laser beam in sessions a few weeks apart significantly improves facial skin quality and appearance. This treatment is combined with high quality copper containing products available in our office.

Facial veins, facial capillaries and rosacea are also successfully treated using this methodology.

VARICOSE VEINS
Varicose veins of the lower extremities are a serious concern for many people. Laser technology has been very successful in the treatment of spider veins and telangiectasia of the legs.

PIGMENTED LESIONS
Sun spots, age spots and irregular pigmentation can be treated with this type of laser. Occasionally a microscopic skin sampling is performed to secure the proper diagnosis. Treatment is applied in combination with copper containing cosmetic preparations.

HISTORY OF COSMETIC LASER AT LA CLINIC
After many months of research on aesthetic lasers currently available on the market, we have selected the Coolglide Laser from Cutera (www.cutera.com), an innovative 1064nm Nd YAG laser.

We started focusing on Laser Hair Removal in 2001, and we were very enthusiastic about the results obtained in our clientele.

This equipment indeed provides what it has been devised for: a Permanent hair reduction, for men and women, when an appropriate sequence of therapy is completed according to the manufacturer's guidelines.

We also found that, in contrast to other laser equipment, we can treat patients of all skin types, and those with ongoing suntans.

In October 2003, we acquired the upgrades provided by the manufacturer, under the names of Genesis, Vantage, and Xeo.

These introduced several alternatives in energy distribution, spot size, and the addition of the Intense Pulse Light modality (IPL).
